How many people are fans of TV broadcast gear?

After realizing that there might be a lot of us that keep an interest in the use and preservation of television broadcast gear, I thought I'd ask how many people would like to see a dedicated area for it on AudioKarma

I would cruise that topic, and I immediately know of two serious collectors of vintage TV broadcast people here in Los Angeles, plus Colortel has a nice assortment of color broadcast stuff. So YES; this would be a great idea!

Here is one link to Chuck Pharis' site... http://www.pharis-video.com/ He is one of the two B'cast equipment guys here in Los Angeles.

Always like stirring the stew and seeing how much salt or pepper it might need from time to time

Does this count?;

http://home.att.net/~pldexnis/potpourri/TK-11.html

It was ready for restoration at one point until a hurricane flooded my barn and it went under water. I gave up and stripped the interior and retrofitted it with a CCD camera and LCD monitor for show. I gave it the proper repaint from a body shop. Lenses and field tripod courtesy of ebay. NBC Hollywood head courtesy of Eric Stumpf. Proper satin chrome courtesy of my checkbook.

Now on display at the Sarnoff Library in Princeton, NJ. They just plug it in and it fires up and shows on a 630 type set restored by the NJARC. Tourists love it.

There is nothing that beats watching over an Ampex ACR25 during a long spot break.
One of my first jobs in TV was loading 2" quad carts into two of them. I was sad to see them go but then again I don't really want to ever go through that again. Another piece I really liked was Ampex's slomo disk recorder I can't remember the model number but it was something in it's day. My favorite VTR's are the AVR1 and the VPR2b.

I've got an RCA TK-28 Telecine with a pair of TP-66 projectors, and a slide machine out in the back of my garage. I run it occasionally showing films in my house to unsuspecting friends. I used this camera set-up back in the 1970's when I worked in TV. The machines are in excellent condition, and I have 4 sets of camera tubes for the TK-28! Its not really hard to set-up anymore for me, like it was when I started waay back then...

Guess I would consider myself a fan since working with broadcast gear is what I do for a living One interesting piece of gear in my collection is a complete Harris TC-85 studio camera. I have the ccu, mults, lenses, and support gear required for its operation. It is a plumbicon based camera, and is most noted for being one of the first cameras to have a computerized ccu with an auto-setup feature, to make having to do registration adjustments much easier.

I could be wrong, but I don't think Chuck Pharris has any Harris cameras in his collection.
