how about portable black and white?

I'd be sorely tempted, but does anybody know roughly what shipping and duties would cost to Eastern Ontario. My guess is that it would be prohibitively expensive. Also, I wonder what the odds are that the set would still be in working condition by the time the shippers finished with it. I think I might be better off checking out thrift stores and flea markets around here. Are there any Canadians on the board who can give me some tips as to where to look. I've tried looking on ebay.ca, but anything near me seems to be a "real fixer-upper", and I am not a techie by any stretch of the imagination

I bought this 1968 zenith b/w at an estate sale yesterday July 20 for $5.00. It worked of course. I was surprised as this on has the spotlite dials which I rarely find on the portable b/w. Has the 14Y33 chassis. Dont know the model, I need zeniths TV-37 service manual to match up some cabinet numbers to pin point the model number.

Here is the latest local find. Picked this 1972 zenith set up at the resale shop for $15. When I spotted it as I approached the stack of tvs, I thought I found a space command..........NO, but who cares this is a cool set! Its like brand new inside and out. Kind of a nicer cabinet with two tone dial plate, gold and brown! Its got the cool "T" style VHF knob which is my favorite one they used for portables. All tube of course 14B38Z. The inside of the cabinet was hand dated at the factory 11-13-72,the manuals indicate this chassis for 1973 sets.
It worked well, but UHF had no B+ due to a disconnected wire from the chassis! However, the inside of the set was loaded with dry grey "clean" dust which is a sign of it being in a good environment all the years. All original tubes, and all are still good, even the 13Z10 was strong!

Your 68 Zenith is model Y2022, the Shoreham. I've got a nice fold out brochure that came with my Y2011C Are you sure the chassis is 14Y33 and not 14Y26? The Y2022 is the deluxe model with power transformer.

Hmmm...maybe it's not the Y2022 after all. I keep forgetting that mfrs put out a couple of lines during a model yr. I've got the TV37 & a principal component chart from Jan 68, so let me know what the cabinet #s and tuners are and I'll try to match it up with a model #.

Im missing a few b/w manuals for my zenith stuff, the TV-37 is one of them. Id like to find manuals for 1962,63,64, 68 (TV37) 1969, otherwise, im complete for 60s

How do you find model names? The only way that I know of is brochures. The nice thing about rca service manuals is that they also give the name of the model.

Sorry, but I couldn't find your 68 Zenith in the TV37 or in my Jan 68 parts list. The TV37 was dated 6/67 so it only lists the first 68 models. Maybe your Zenith is a late 68 model or even a 69. What's the approx. mfg date from the source date codes on the tubes, speaker, etc.?

I'll give it another check, the crt tends to be dated the newest probably 68-48 or 68-52, in that case, I'll assume the set is a 69. Actually, the inside of the cab is dated 11-17-68, and the bezel 12-7-68, so I'll check out my tv38 and 39.

Here is a 1963 Motorola Remote b/w set that I recently got off ebay for 20.00!
It even has the original hand unit and all the papers!
Have been looking for one of these for years as they are extremely hard to find.

Got this set as a freebie at a local antique store. They had it for 10+ years and could not sell it. It does work and it tips the scale at about 50 pounds. Below it is another Zenith portable. It does not work.

Funny to think... recently we've commented a bit on Motorolas, and how we don't see them too often. Now, they seem to be popping up left and right.

Perhaps we should be talking about CT100's a little more!
