i had a green one like in your av.
i used it as a kid mowing for pay. used it several years and sold it when i made more fixing tv's . kid i sold it to loaned it to his brother who had no idea it needed a oil mix. he ran it 2 weeks before it spit the rod out.if proper ratio was used it might still be running.iirc it had a cast deck so no rustout.

LawnBoys are the best mower ever made, the OMC ones at least. The cast magnesium and aluminum decks were the best. If oiled properly, they can last 40 years if you take care of it. Most of the time, people dont realize the exhaust ports can be cleaned and crank seals be replaced. If thats maintained they will run forever.
Bryan, if you have recoil issues, you might have a broken recoil spring its p/n 602610 and is the most costly part on the machine! You can buy them at rcpw.com for $64! The C series was discontinued in 1970. Carb parts ignition parts are all still out there. Recoil springs generally dont break and is somewhat rare. Make sure everything is well lubricated. If the recoil spring is good and you are still having problems, the centrifugal catch pin on the flywheel is probably stuck inside the starter dog. The centrifugal pin on the flywheel is to be outside the starter dog (starter dog is a 4 sided sprocket part of the recoil spool). If the pin is inside, then thats the problem! Once you look at it, you will see how it works. Its common and happens easily if not watched when reassembling. If you have some time to go over the mower, just email me. I need an internally splined counter-rotating muffler bearing for my Lawn Boy. I don't know the model number but I've attached a pic that hopefully will aid in it's identification. TIA :deadhorse

My father has told me that, as a youth, he yearned for this model that Heathkit owns. Unable to afford it he made his own. The great thing about it is that, by design, you are always going downhill, thus making it very easy to go forward.
If you ever get it going again, better send that pinion selector off to Elmer Holloway out in Omaha; he can rebuild it for you but cheap. Otherwise it will eat up the Wrightson clutch. Suddenly you'll find yourself going through non-detergent 30 weight faster than the clerk down at Western Auto can ring it up... parts of the preceding, believe it or not, were true. (small parts)

Went to several estate sales today, found practically nothing. One place was a nice old house that looked early 60s, the living room was all original with the old furniture and orange carpet (but new TV), kitchen even had the old washer and dryer... Another had a nice 50s motorola hi-fi console for only $10, but I passed thinking that I didn't have enough space (but then if it had a TV in it I probably would have brought it home anyway).
