CTC-5AA Tuner

I have a CTC-5AA chassis, the Arliss VHF only. Does anyone know enough to help me. My friend told me to ask, The dial string is what we were attempting to put on.

That's the problem. To me it looks like it's busted. I didn't see any screws or screw holes or similar to attach the pulley to the shaft.

I would reply back and focus on asking for confirmation that the pulley is supposed to be factory-affixed to the shaft, and that it can't be easily repaired (which is what I'm assuming).

Personally I have frequently fixed such failures. I would try to refix and repeen the wheel. The may be insufficient metal in which case with a lathe I would shave off a further 1/32" re attach the wheel and repeen.

It should be easy to repair the original part.

Get a good high power solder iron and hit it from the back with a nice bead. Should hold up nicely without having to disassemble the tuner.

The soldering iron may work if the shaft isn't diecast metal.

I think the best way is to take it apart and fix it properly.
