Found a 78 Colortrak Remote set

One other thing I picked up this weekend, forgot it was in the back seat of my car.

A 1978 dated 15"? Colortrak, this is one with the four button Ultrasonic remote, you turn it on by pressing Vol Up and off by pressing Vol down, barely beyond stone knives and Bearskins as Spock might say.

Other Barbaric features include actual Horizontal and Vertical Hold controls, right out in the open where any fool can touch them!

Probably a low hour set, it's nearly mint and the CRT comes on quickly and with good Gray-scale immediately.

I thought if nothing else it might make a good CRT donor for one of my more stylish, and older knob tuned sets, but it's in such good shape I think I'll leave it alone, maybe someone will take it off my hands.

I hooked up a DVD player to see how it worked, very good but someone must have turned up the screen control, it was way too bright, turned it down so there's a good range of brightness but not too much.

Those small screen color sets w/ remote from the '70's seem to be very scarce. In the 20+ years that I've been doing this, I've only seen two pre-1980 13" remote sets. One was a '79 Sampo that used an IR remote and the other one is the '76 Zenith chromacolor ultra-sonic remote set that I currently have.

I have that same set. Picked it up at an estate sale for 5 dollars. Have the remote and paperwork
. nice sets. I recently posted a pic on ere showing it on a wire cart from the 6o's. I have only ran mine for a weekend when I was between cable and satellite, used a set top convertor and an out door antenna. Exceptionally nice color. Was actually enjoyable to watch golf on a small screen.

Somewhere out in the shed, I have this same set and remote with a Penncrest badge. I dont know why I still have it, but it is out there.

EDIT: Not sure about Penncrest. But, it IS a JC Penney branded TV.

Those are great !
Closest thing I owned to this set was a '77 XL100 remote set with the CTC-89 chassis. Too bad the crt had almost no green emission by the time I found it. Otherwise a solidly built tv. Yours looks mint!
