Hallicrafters round two

As for the Hallicrafters out of Seattle it's still a little rough but after changing a mit full of caps it has come to life.

I am still leary about the 6AU5 horizontal output circuit and am wondering if there is better and more service imformation other than Rider's,This 818 chasis is a production 5
Next step, Verify/get the horiz out cathode current at a safe workable level.
Looking for your imput,
Thanks RR.

A zillion years old and making pictures! Try that with your LCD in a few years. Good show.

Great!!!

I have recently restored a Hallicrafters 821, that use a similar chassis but with a 16" rectangular CRT. Chassis has still the conformation for take the round tube, and has an additional bracket on it with "rectangular screen" engraved on it for take the crt. Mine had open focus coil (rewound by me) and open vertical blocking oscillator transformer (found NOS on the web for $ 7.50) plus some bad tubes, paper capacitors and wirewound resistors as usual. I wondered from its very good image! I love these halli TV's, but here in Italy they are very rare!

SAMS for hallicrafters 818

BTW I have here an old SAMS photofact valid for 818, 820, 822 and other models, that came to me with the TV when I bought it. I used it for fixing my 821 that is the same except for a 6AV6 instead of 6SQ7 and a pair of 12AU7 instead of 6SN7, but with the same schematic and components under the chassis, transformers, etc. If you need a copy I will email you in pdf or send a xerox copy to you, let me know in case!
