My Vintage TV Page/Blog

Hi Guys. This is something I have been wanting to do for a while so decided to start a blog on all of my vintage TV's and radios (when I get to those).

It covers some sets that have been posted about on VK and some which haven't.

Basically each set featured has some information about it and a repair progress report/status as I work on it. Its going to take a long time though... That 'Project List' is getting longer.... I've just picked up two more consoles in the past week...

Click on the link, have a browse and enjoy. Some of the older posts are a bit more descriptive and that Telerad I'm currently working on is also there too.

Cheers
Glen

Hi, I've just started doing videos on my TV sets and have uploaded them onto YouTube if anyone's interested in watching I've not done this sort of thing before so hopefully they are ok!
Since there is pretty much nothing documenting NZ made sets I thought it was time that there was something mentioned about them.

Here's the link - http://www.youtube.com/user/glenz1975?feature=mhsn

Enjoy.

Cheers
Glen

Where's part 3? I wanted to see the bottom. Did you ever finnish the set?
Is that a 90 deg. pix. tube?
It really doesn't look much lie an American clone, but, the quality sure is better than most American sets.
I notice the mixture of tubes. Looks lyke a 9 pin damper tube. Possibly a 6Y9?
Looks like set was made to mount in a wall. Do you have the front bezel?
I'd be tempted to make a special baord, and, put a finnished front panel on it with bezel, and, controls on front. Possibly put the spkr. In it's own dedicated cabinet.
Looks well made. I'd like to see other stuff made by him.
Which system do you folks run on, and, what's your line power supply?
Are you Australian?

Hi Bill, there's seven parts to that video, I'm yet to upload them but will probably will tonight at some stage... So Part 3 you will see! I'm still in the process of working on it as you will see in the next videos.

Yes the tube is a 90 degree bonded face type.

The damper type is a 9 pin noval - EY88/6AL3

And this set does have a cabinet, see the thread on this here - http://videokarma.org/showthread.php?t=251415

This TV is well made, Alan had an eye for detail. Its a shame he never produced schematics for his sets, as they were all in his head.

Our TV system here in New Zealand is 625 line PAL and our line voltage is 230 volts. No I'm not Australian but NZ is close to that country.

Cheers Glen.
