CTC40 on eBay
Maybe a 40?
I don't recall seeing this exact TV in this cabinet before, I thought maybe it had been swapped but it appears to be original, not so sure about the turntable. http://cgi.ebay.com/RCA-Color-Consol...item2563b63b0e

If that's a CTC-40 I would be VERY surprised. Judging by the faceplate, appears to be a CTC-21 or a close cousin of that chassis....at best a CTC-28. But if the stereo is any indicator, it is the same in my Brandywine from the '68 model year which has the CTC-21 chassis. This had the solid state audio circuit in the chassis and the solid state stereo tuner and amp.
A good set. That 21 chassis put out a really good pic. Definitely a '69 cabinet, looks to be in the pine finish. Definitely looks like a rebuilt crt that now has cataracts. Originals would have been the dark green/gray coloration. Pretty neat set if someone can get it. I know combos are not all that popular but I hope someone saves her. The record changer looks like a "studio strobe" model; which, was used in their higher end sets.

CTC-21?
 Could you elaborate a bit more? I'm familiar with CTC-20 (the back-engineered CTC-19 modded to drive a round tube) and CTC-22 (the cheapo series-string portable). But what was a '21? Bill(oc)

The cabinet looks exactly like a 40 a friend of mine had back in the 70's but the TV doesn't look right.
Wonder if it's a Frankenset?

It is NOT a 40!! I am SURE of that!!!
I have a couple of 40 sets, including the combo,(and that beat--up, water--damage table model), and the 1969 sets say"solid state" on them. The 1970 models like mine say "trans vista". I do NOT recall any ctc-40 having the"light bar" type of channel readout either--but my CTC 30 DOES--and with the EXACT style of control panel.
Edit--this is in the 1968 RCA catalog. It is the "Tarrytown", HJ 855R. It has the stereo I do NOT like--the RC1223, with that little Power supply on the floor. A "New vista" color tv chassis, NOT SS Last edited by rca2000; 05-11-2011 at 07:07 PM. Reason: added info

It does have a "New Vista" nameplate in one of the pictures.
What year did RCA start using its new logo, and drop "Victor" and Nipper from its products? (I know Nipper came back years later.)

I had an early CTC40 and the control panel looked like the CTC38's from the same period. Mine had "New Vista Color Solid State" on the front panel and there was a small flip up control door at the bottom, just like on the tube sets. And, mine still had the "RCA Victor" badge. That was back in the early '90's and that set was junked because the deflection yoke was burnt up and the CRT was weak. I did try to find a yoke; but, junked the set when I had no luck.

looks like same tt used in ctc40, IS that large two way switch an indicator this IS a motorized tuner set??
