Can someone tell me what the CRT would be in this set?

RCA VICTOR TELEVISION MODEL # 17T154. Owner says the screen is 16"

17GP4. That model is called the 'Whitfield'

The mask in front of the CRT covers a bit around the edges, so the seller's measurement was in the right ballpark.

Many RCA TV model numbers start with digits that signify the CRT size. 8-PT-7030 means 8-inch CRT, 17XXXX means 17-inch, 21XXXX means 21-inch, etc.

Your set takes a 17" tube...

Your 'Whitfield' Model name table top is from 1951, with chassis KCS66. The 17- part of the model number indicated a 17" CRT.

Early production models employed an electrostatic focus 17GP4...late production models use a magnetic deflection 17CP4 (there's a 'K' after the model number, if the chassis takes a CP4).

Thanks everyone, I'm just heading out the door to pick up this little beauty. Only 50 bucks in Ontario, CA but I want to test the CRT first.

Yep same exact chassis as my console 17T172 which originally had a 17GP4. I'm curious to know if your set has the original metal envelope tube and if it's good. Mine's been converted to a larger 20" all glass tube.I believe this happened early in it's life.I put mine on the variac and got a nice bright full raster so my flyback and crt are good but the main filter blew

and that's as far as I've gone with it. Hopefully your crt and flyback are good as well.

I just got back from checking out the set. CRT tested good to about 1/4 way up the good area on my BK, I think it was an all glass tube and as JCFitz was saying it could be a replacement. As I looked inside it was pretty clear that whoever changed the CRT didn't take much care with it. The foam rubber gasket that goes between the glass that the CRT was just sort of thrown inside the cabinet and the two support struts that attach at the back of the CRT to hold it in place were loose.. But worst of all the cabinet wasn't well cared for. Although it looks like wood in the photos the cabinet is metal finished with a painted wood grain. The finish is well scratched and beyond my ability to restore. The chassis was really gummy looking too so I passed.
