Ion Trap Magnet

When I pulled the Ion Magnet off of the neck of my 12LP4 I set it aside but got to thinking about something. These are just two magnets held on by a mechanical clamp, but do they get weak with age? I held a metallic screwdriver to the clamp and it is magnetic but not very strong. I actually don't know how strong they should be. Just curious. I can come up with some pretty crazy things to worry about.

They're fairly weak magnets to begin with. I suppose they could get weaker - especially if you let it get in contact with other magnets. Personally, I've never needed to replace one.
