Sony KV1380R

Normally, I don't buy '80's TV's; but, I made an exception with this one. This is an '86 Sony 13" color TV with stereo sound and A/V jacks. It will need some picture adjustments; but, I think it will look nice when done. I paid $15 for it, only because it was a 13" stereo color TV from the '80's and those don't turn up much.

Wow! I didn't know they made such an animal! I have a Sony 1370R that I bought in high school (after MUCH saving for it!). I still have the little critter stored in its original box over 20 years later. Man did I say that? I feel old. I've always been curious if it came in a Stereo flavor. I'll have to compare the circuitry between the 1370 and 1380 and see what differences exist.

In over 20 years of doing this, I've only seen a few 13" color TV's that had stereo sound and A/V inputs. Most 13" sets found their way into the kitchen, kid's room, bedroom, etc. In such applications, most people probably didn't feel the need for stereo sound. I don't think A/V jacks really became standard on 13" TV's until the late '90's-early 2000's. And, that was only because of DVD players and video game consoles that didn't have an RF output jack.

You should be proud saving this TV. Look at the back, it says "Made in Japan." That is rare. Most 80s Sony TV were made in San Diego, CA or Tijuana, Mexico.

Nice industrial design, looks like a scaled down KV-20XBR. Good find...
