G.E. just rolled out a new flat-screen double-D, doghouse model priced at just 99 cen

Has any one else seen this? I just saw it and had to buy one. Yes, it lights up…with a nice “raster.” But no video or audio yet.

Okay…EARLY APRIL FOOLS…this little charmer was found at the local 99CentsOnly store and is now begging me to carefully apply some mahogany and gold acrylic paint. I must also add some wee knobs and maybe a wee G.E. or Philco logo. Almost forgot…I’ll need to bend a paper clip into a nice set of rabbit ears.

Would I dare to then make a wee transparency of an Indian Head Pattern or a station I.D.? Yes, I am getting carried away – and lovin’ it.

Roger

That is really cool, I'll have to find some!

Someone in the design department (in China?) obviously remembers what an old TV looked like, or found a picture on the Web.

Maybe it was Jack Donaghy's idea, oh wait, couldn't be, he's head of the Microwave department.

One thing I don't do though is use those things for a night light, the risk is probably small but I have heard of them starting fires, same with CFL's, they don't get left on when I'm not here.

That would go good with GE's new clock night light.

GE thought of everything. They even have a "fish-tanked" version out already.

Shame on me. I thought that WISCOJIM had been busy with Photoshop...but no, I see that the fishtanker version is really for sale on Amazon - at a much higher price than the 99CentsOnly version. Nothing should ever be turned into a fishtank - except molten glass.

Cheers, Roger

The blank screen version would keep me awake. I'd be thinking of the Exorcist!
