WEGA KV-32HS510 Failed
Newer set, but it's worked fine till today. Try to turn it on, and you get 7 blinks from the STBY light. Looked it up, apparently HV exceeded 33Kv or some other horizontal failure. I'm thinking HO transistor right now but don't have a replacement in front of me, any thoughts?

I have worked on a LOT of these sets, not lately though, I think this one has the "split board" system, where the deflection board is seperate from the signal board. I do NOT think you have a HOT failure. More likely--the "MCZ" SMPS control chip has failed, for the HV generator.
ON your set--there are probably 2 of these. They are an 18 or 20-pin IC, located near the front of the set, close to the AC line comes in. If your set tries to come on and then goes back off, without ever producing a pix, the chip nearest the flyback is likely bad--but I would replace BOTH chips. If your chips say "MCZ3001D" without A "B" after the D, they DEFINITELY need to be replaced. |

That's exactly what it does; I hear relays clicking several times, but it never comes on.
I don't see any labeled 'MCZ3001D', only thing with that many pins on either board are the dual audio amplifier chips, 'TA8216H'. There are various voltage regulators, but they are all of discrete construction from what I can see. Are you thinking it's an over/under voltage fault? I saw that listed as a possibility somewhere out of the web.

Definitely a PITA, but worth fixing. As Wizard says, you can Google the modifications, or even buy complete rebuilt boards from P.T.S. if you want. Any local TV repair tech might have an account with them, or contact them directly.

OK, I was able to find a schematic diagram in the service manual found here: http://www.eserviceinfo.com/download.php?fileid=31649 (12 part RAR)
I see what you guys are talking about now, looks like a driver IC which tells the MOSFETS powering the flyback what to do. I didn't realise this thing had seperate circuits for HV and deflection, that will make troubleshooting much easier. So is there anything to look for to confirm a bad driver IC? I see a list of voltages for it, but it looks like they are only on the input side of the house.
