Admiral T2211x - Canada

Hi There - I've had this TV for a number of years... I can't seem to find anything about it anywhere.

Chassis 19F1X
Port Credit Ontario Canada

It works - I just wasn't able to figure out how to set it up....

My partner wants it to go.... I'm assuming that it must have a slightly different Model that parallels an american one....

I believe it's 1952/3.... any help or words of wisdom are much appreciated.

I have a bunch of Canadian TV service manuals (Radio College of Canada). If you
wish, I may look this up for you over the weekend. As a matter of fact
that would be a 'last chance before winter' opportunity, as I will be making my
final trip to that location until next spring. Hope you get to keep and restore this
TV, any Canadian model from that vintage is bound to be quite rare. Get back
to me if you're interested (by Friday)...

That is nearly identical to the first set we had when I was a kid. A 1953 model. Yours looks like it has 1953 trim with 1954 knobs. Those rounded corners are very recognizable. Take a look at this 1954 brochure:

My dad kept our set running by replacing tubes, and even the picture tube once, until 1965 when we replaced it with a Silvertone color set.

Looks like the x stands for export or something. Many Canadian made TVs were
of brands exclusive to Canada, but this one is different. Thanks to Tim for the
interesting document.

Hey Tim - when I saw the brochure I thought the same thing - only difference seems to be a wooden base instead of metal legs. My hubby doesn't like the old stuff, so I think I have to get rid of it... Last time I tried it, everything worked.... I just was too impatient to set everything up correctly.... but thanks for sharing..... deb

So Blondee is a lady whose SO does want the old TV out? Usually it's the other
way around! If you want to find a good home for the TV, I trust that could
be arranged. It would be a shame to destroy such a piece of history.

That set is definately Canadian built. I see it uses those square drive screws that they we never used at the time. Also USA built Admiral TV only models never used a 6Y6 or 6W6. They always used a 6AS5. The choke is mounted on the chassis instead of on the speaker.
