Being raised in the South, & having 2 unrepentant Confederate granmothers, I had it drilled into me at a very early age to be deferential around women...ESPECIALLY ones who were older than me. Its served me well, but never as much as when I went to Cape Cod to meet my then future wife's family, at a family re-union. I dropped a LOT of "Yes, Ma'ams" & "No, Ma'ams", & that basically bowled 'em over. I will admit to turning the Southern accent up to 11, however....(grin)
