Thank you all for the great info.

I couldn't bear the though of this set ending up in the trash either. Glad to have it...just gotta figure out where to put it.

It was my feeling as well that the power supply had new(er) caps in it. There is absolutely no hum in the audio and those definitely do not appear to be factory caps. I also noted that the wiring harnesses were not in their factor clips, a further clue that the supply had been serviced. That being said, it doesn't appear that the set has had much if any other servicing. All the factory clips seem to be in tact. Pretty amazing really.

BUT...it is in texas!! I CANNOT remotely justify going that far for ANY tv--and my old van may not really be up to a 1000+ trip EACH way--and I KNOW my wallet is not!!

but still...I would like to have it. It is a CTC-40 with a stereo, with the rare ""200 watt" RCA RS-246 SS amp, ONLY made for ONE year--1970..

Perhaps..someone could 'give it a hitch-hike, some of the wayt up here?? Maybe within a couple of states or so??
If not...hopefully one of us will end up with it...NOT TOO MANY of these left!!

That is funny.

Amazing the difference a month can make.

He told me that his wife couldn't stand it any more and while he didn't say it specifically, there definitely seemed to be the implication that it was destined for an unhappy place.

He had several tvs in his garage but he said he didn't work on the tvs. By the looks of the grouping, for the most part, it seemed like tvs that he had owned over the years. I would say this fellow was in his 60's maybe.

While the drive from Oklahoma City is a bit less, 234 miles, it was still a haul but that's ok. I have driven to Wisconsin and Indiana for tv's before. Dumb, maybe, wallet hurting...definitely, but the sets were saved nevertheless.
