1972 Magnavox Color Console
Next on the bench from the SC collection. Very weak crt with everything cranked all the way up I get a picture thats just bright enough to see in a lit room.
Color is decent except for all the whites burning out red from so much bias and drive. Gotta love the smell of this burning off years of dust. ![]() ![]()

I remember those. Mostly I remember the first time I worked on one. When I took the vertical output tube out, the socket stayed on the tube........pulled it right out of the PC board.

I had the same thing happen with a 21" Silvertone roundie in the early 1970s. I tried to replace the 6AW8 video output tube and, when I plugged the replacement into the socket (or tried to--the tube had a bent pin and wouldn't go in straight), the socket broke out of the board with a sickening crunch.

I think there were two of those. Hadn't noticed the carved feet on that cabinet before

I think the other one was solid state. Probably an early T995 chassis set.

Yeah, I did but the CRT was junk so I got rid of it. I don't remember the chassis either.....
