Estate sale in Naperville IL

Any one in the Chicagoland vicinity may want to check out an estate sale by Naperville traders at 1137 Kinsie court in Naperville. Several interesting sets for sale. A rectangular Quasar, possibly works in the drawer; $25. A couple of DuMonts $50 each. A couple of RCA combos. A huge collection of tv service books and 50's magazines. And, a collection of eary vcrs. Apparently not for sale an RCA roundie in a back room down stairs, although the back for it is behind the DuMonts. I got taken to the closed off room when I was looking at the scope I bought. There was an early RCA scope back there that the manager took me to see. Also not for sale a contemporary (curved cabinet) Chromacolor II and a XL-100 upstairs. There is also a wire recorder and a bunch of table radios. I bought an Quasar VR-1000 VX format, a small DuMont scope, a RCA VET250 complete with remote, manual and dust cover, and bunch of TV books. The sale is open tomorrow (Sunday) from 10 to 2, and I think everything will be 1/2 half off.

Here are a couple of shots of the VR-1000 and the DuMont scope. Check out http://www.videointerchange.com/quas...me_machine.htm for more info on it.

The scope was last calibrated in '67, but obviously is much older. It has binding posts for inputs, no coaxial cable inputs. Unfortunately the old calibration sticker was over the name plate, but the residue should clean up easily.

I wish the roundie was for sale. Do you know the approximate year? Just curious.

Doug, You should try to persuade them into selling it, if it's a nice one.

Betcha the old scope will give decent service if you pop a few new caps in it, & spritz the controls w/Deoxit...Most of that stuff was built like a battleship, anyway...Is the VCR a modified Betamax ?
