that is an easy repair.back in shop days,we had a square philco hi-divide that we used to diagnose with.jump it in and see if that would pull the focus in line.mr. dixon said they were all basically the same electronically.however,he was a stickler for his reputation and the exact replacement part was installed for the customer.i had a flat chassis 25v set that i left the hi-divide in for years.also i think some magnavox s had a focus block that would substitute.good luck and your zenith should produce and outstanding picture.never saw a bad or even weak crt in one of those treasures.almost the perfect set!

I remember those sets from when I went on vacation with my parents in the early 70s. That model seemed to be installed in a lot of Ramada Inns in New England at that time.

Yep, bad focus divider indeed. You should be able to get an ECG from moyer. It will not fit neatly like the original. I acutally bought a replacement from moyer last year for one and wasnt happy that it was mechanically alot different and it couldnt be screwed down to the chassis. moyer told me it was the "correct" replacement though for the part number. By the way, the part number should be stamped onto the top edge of the original divider.

I am probably the biggest fan of the 4 tube hybrids on this whole site. I like everything about them, they are great sets. Only other problem I bet you'll experience down the road if not already is the crackling audio in which you'll be hearing hissing and snapping noises in the speaker. Practically all of my 4 tubers I ever had experienced this problem and its another easy fix. Simple replacement of the 221-48 sound IC which is plugged into a socket on the sound module. I think the correct replacement is an ECG-1162. Its like the 6GH8 of solid state parts (if you understand my humor).

I emailed Moyer for a focus divider and this is the response that I got...

"I am sorry to say, none of are stores have any of these left. good luck on your search. "

Any other ideas???

kx250rider's suggestion of replacing the tripler with one that has a fixed tap for the focus sounds like the best solution.
