Found a 1983 Zenith Z1920w set in the trash

I found this in the trash here in Dickson, works pretty good. No remote capability even though it is a digital tuner.

I'm guessing that set uses the 9-181 mainboard. I had an SZ1927W with it (and remote) which was a superb set. When working they make a great picture like yours has. However, they're always missing the control door as yours is. D'oh! If I find one it's yours. Nice find!

I had one like that many years ago. It had a pull on volume knob and a digital non-cable ready tuner.

This style Zenith has started showing up lately. I have some good friends who bought one new; I figured it was long gone by now but they just stashed it away. Asked if I wanted it, well, not all that much but I'll take it. That was last year, but I haven't bothered to remind them.

I have seen a couple of these on the roadside over the last year. A few weeks ago I went to drop off some recycling and this particular drop-off center had a shipping container sitting there for electronics, furniture and appliances. It was on the honor system as the door was open and this was after hours. There was a sign on the door that read "no scavenging". Well, believe me, if the right set was in there...I'd be breaking that little rule! As it was the most interesting things were a huge Monkey Wards microwave from about 1980 and one of these Zeniths.
