Just watched Terry Gilliam's "Brazil" last night.

What an exceptional movie, I really love Gilliam's work, and this is probably the best of anything I've seen by him. I am very surprised I had never seen it, or matter of fact even really heard about it before, but my good friend and fellow movie buff made me watch it with her last night, and I am still in shock of its greatness! If you haven't seen it make sure you see The "Criterion Collection" version that has Gilliam's cut of the movie (studio released it differently to make it "less depressing").

Seriously go see it!

Last movie I saw in the theatre was Terminator 4. It was a huge disappointment. I agree with the previous post that Brazil is a very good movie, I have it recorded on DVR right now. I think I'll watch it in a little bit.

The last movie I saw was Onechanbara (Chanbara Beauty).

Japanese cowgirl in a bikini and cowboy hat/boots using a samurai sword to fight zombies. That pretty much sums it up.

"Last Chance Harvey"

Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson

A thoroughly enjoyable small film, with some great, casual acting.

Check, put that one on the list!

In order -

Jacob's Ladder
Conspiracy Theory
Enemy of the State
Eagle Eye

Not sure what put me on this kick but it was a thoroughly enjoyable run. Had not seen Conspiracy Theory in years. It has some major plot problems but I really enjoyed it this time around. It is a hoot as Gibson is unhinged.

Easy Virtue

We watched Easy Virtue yesterday afternoon. Recommended.

Synopsis: When American race car driver Larita impulsively ties the knot in Monte Carlo with young Brit John Whittaker, she travels to England to meet her groom's privileged and batty family. While John's shocked mother and sisters do their best to sabotage the newlyweds, Larita bonds with the family's patriarch through their mutual appreciation for motorbikes and flouting social etiquette. "With crafty direction, snappy dialogue and a delightful cast, this delightful confection is as clever and hilarious as it is artfully crafted."--Toronto Eye Weekly

"The Boy in the Striped Pajamas"
I watched it after it drove my daughter to tears, and then read about it at IMDB

The boy's innocence seems to be a driving point, but I found it to be a bit too naive. He just didn't seem able to put anything together. Perhaps though that was part of the point if one takes the entire movie as a metaphor

Good, but it's no "Schindler's List" or even Anne Frank

Went to watch it today. It really touched upon my greatest fear of all- growing old. Some parts made me teary eyed. But damn that movie was brilliant. And the dogs cracked me up. Leaps and bounds better than Wall-E or Ratatouille, both of which which I thought kinda sucked.

I could see this getting a Best Picture nomination.

We saw O’Horten this afternoon. A real snoozer. Not recommended unless you are looking for a "unique cinematic experience".

Synopsis: When 67-year-old Odd Horten retires from his long career as a train engineer, he has difficulty adapting to his new and unstructured existence as a pensioner. So, instead of sitting back and enjoying his well-earned retirement, he becomes increasingly involved in the bizarrely unconventional as he meets new friends and rekindles old flames. "An intimately crafted, gently deadpan slice-of-life tale that is both sincere and absurd, and a gratifying and unique cinematic experience."--Toronto Eye Weekly

Saw "No Reservations" last night. That was from the wife's Netflix queue of "chick flicks".

Was very surprised as it is actually a very good movie. Nicely made. Catherine Zeta-Jones is awesome.
