Zenith Space Command tube color console at Chicago estate sale

I was at an estate sale on the north side of Chicago this morning and saw this Zenith Space Command 600 color console set.

It looks similar, but is not exactly the same as this set that Doug has:
http://www.picturetrail.com/sfx/albu...3264/187538134

It looked in pretty good condition, there is a slight green halo. I didn't see the remote.
They were asking $55 for it, but would probably let it go cheaper, they seemed eager to get rid of it.

The sale goes on tomorrow too, you can see details here:

If Doug don't beat me to it, I would like to have it. Thanks for posting!

I mapped it out and it is plausible for me to go, I'll do my best to save it!

Glad to hear you're going to try to save it, I would love to have a set like this someday, I like the modern cabinet design and have always wanted an ultrasonic Space Command, but now I don't have the space or a way to transport it.

Well, maybe I can borrow my parents' car, and drive for 8 hours up to Chicago!

What a disaster. First, I had to spend all of last night fixing the "truck" ( I was calling it something else) and no, I can't afford a new one so don't even say it. Anyways, I was under that damned thing until 11 and finally got the drive train ready for the interstate.
Then this morning, I missed a turn and got screwed up causing me to be there after the sale started. I was aiming to be there way before but that didn't happen for other reasons as well, I'd rather not get into it. Anyways, I got there about twenty-five minutes after the sale started. I was all happy thinking, man all this crap and I made it here, went inside and looked around, no Zenith. Asked about it, "went at ten when the sale started" said the lady. I thought...and went home. 124+miles round trip, a whole tank of gas, several hours and no Tv. Now, who here got it so I can strangl......I mean congratulate them....yes......congratulate.....At least it didn't go to the dump and I can't say I didn't try to get it. Did you grab it Doug? I hope so, I would feel better if you did than anyone else. It just sucks that I can't find a nice SC 600 to save my life. I don't even have one.

Just as long as whoever got it does not plan on turning it into something else, like a fishtank!

I forgot one more thing, when I was digging a parts drive-shaft out of the garage, it fell into a MINT 1968 Magnavox color set with sliding doors. It smashed a piece of wood right off the front. I'm so pissed I might just part that set out now. What a piece of crap day it was...........

I wish I knew about that one sooner, it wasn't that far from me, and I would have liked just to see the house, it looks like it hadn't changed much since the 60s. I went to somewhere between 20-30 just regular garage sales that were nearby last Saturday, and the sum total of what I picked up was a box set of Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass records for 50 cents. Garage sales are better here in Michigan than in Los Angeles, where you'll be lucky to find anything other than broken toys, dirty clothes, and chewed up dog furniture. But the days when you can find good stuff at garage sales are over. I should have checked for the estate sales instead.

Mark you should get one of those dinky utility trailers to tow behind your other car. That way you can save gas, and feed your family. You can probably find one for less than 200 bucks.
