Panasonic Micro
Scored this little 1982 Panasonic CT-3311 Micro Color TV at the Thrift today.
It's got a few bumps and bruises and it's missing the battery pack but came with the power supply and it works well, For $12.50 I couldn't refuse it.  It has inputs for audio/video so it won't be completely useless after the changeover, I might even hook it up the HD tuner I have sitting under my PC monitor, that way I can watch TV and surf at the same time.

GREAT find! I've been passively aiming for one of those on eBay, and they usually go for $100+ in decent shape. I had one, but lost it in the fire in '88. I may still have the owners manual for it; I'll look when I get a chance.

I got a PRISTINE one of those 8-9 years ago; Had it hooked up to cable, & watched it as I laid in bed sometimes. Then came the Great Thunderstorm of 2000 that got my B&O TT, my CA-2010, CT-1010, a JRC NRD 535D TOTL communications receiver, & the little Panasonic. I was P!ssed about losin' it more than anything else, 'cause everything else was replaceable, but these little guys are almost in the "Hen's Teeth" category.

I would've been pissed about the Yamaha system!
Had no idea these were so rare. I swear I've passed one up at a flea market more than one time....

Hey Sandy
Did the insurance company replace the JRC ? Never had a claim in that manner, but I hear they (the insurance carriers) don't like to give replacement value on ham gear, or any electronics. That is one fine rcvr. I use to SWL all the time on a R390A but gave it up several years ago. All I have now is a Halli SX 101. The 390 now lives in Montana with my dad in his shack, along with a 75A3 and R388.

Yeah- the 535D was toast- they got me a 545, which again, is like the RX-V1- I never have liked it quite as well as I did the 535D. About the biggest thing is I got the "converter" for it, which allows it to get FM broadcast stations, too.

Glad you got reimbursed for the most part, Sandy.
When my house got struck by lightning in 2000 or so, we lost our burglarm alarm system, two TV's (newer ones though) and a small all-in-one Aiwa ministereo. The adjuster saw our 35" Trinitron, which was fine, and said to me, Are you SURE this one's okay? With a grin. heheheh

Funny how lightning can pick and choose what it destroys.
I had an old Motorola 23" console back in the olden days of 1970. We had a lightning strike near the house, and voltage ran down the antenna, into the house, jumped a booster/grounding system, passed a fairly new at the time Magnavox console, and went on to my room and the Motorola. What I remember most about the damage to the set was yellow disc capacitors that were blown apart here and there allover the set which was turned on at the time. My mom would turn the set on during the day when she was doing housework and crank the sound. The 75 ohm center cable wire was vaporized up at the antenna itself.

I DID save the CRT outta the little Panasonic, which later went to a fellow AKer. He had a CT-3311 that had a busted CRT, but was otherwise OK. I got a 3311 back, but it had earned its living working for a video production company, & is kinda "Beat-To-Sh!t", altho it works well enuff. They ARE neat little sets, have EXCELLENT pictures, & I think are quite rare.
