Street find:1986-87 Hitachi console TV

Over the last few days, I actually had a little luck here in North Bay and a few doors from my place, I found a 1986-87 Hitachi console color TV, a 25-inch model made right here in Canada I plugged it in at my place and it still works great for a 22 year old TV. I watched some of my Beta tapes w/1989-90 Price Is Right episodes-complete w/commercials just for that nostalgic value on a working 1985-86 Sony Betamax which I hooked up to the Hitachi. I also got my Nintendo from circa 1988-90 hooked up as well and played some Tetris:-) Only if life were like that all the time. I also scored a 1984 RCA XL-100 19-inch table top set out of a garbage pile the next day a couple of blocks from my place as well. I gotta do some work on it to get it working. It sat in the rain.

Awesome man! Nice haul.
How much of this awesome stuff do you find in the garbage?
I hear you can find all kinds of awesome stuff in the garbage in Ontario.

I've heard stories of people throwing out fridges just because the light bulb was burned out. And you need a permit to go garbage picking in Toronto, because there's so much to be had, and so many people do it.

I also find old furniture sometimes. I found a mid-1960's coffee table I refinished and it looks great as well as one of those step tables from about 1964 or 65 approx in excellent condition as well and I also found 2 pretty good computer chairs, of which one I am using right now as I type this. I also found 2 1976 B&W 12-inch portable TVs as well and a 1981 13-inch color TV. I even found a 1920's toilet as well-lol:-)

That's very nice, that you found a Beta deck with old Price is Right episodes! Remember now, have your pet spayed or neutered!!!!!!! Kind of funny how Drew still says it. Kind of like a daytime-gameshow cartel hehe. In all seriousness, Bob is a legend.

Hitachi's of the time were very good sets, IME. Some adjustments and these 80s sets are pretty good performers, and they last a LONG time!
