Wow !! Just scored an 8-301 Sony...

Offa You-Know-Where, item #140288341780. Wanted one of these bad boys for forever, this one looks kinda dirty, but all there. Hope it works, but it's not the end of the world if it don't. And I'll give about 100 bux shipping & all for it, I've seen 'em go LOTS higher than that, in rougher shape. Guess this is my Christmas..Couldn't be happier ! Yeah, I'm weird, but y'all knew that already...(grin)-Unca Sandy

You're right...But I keep tellin' my wife I'm gonna Kick the Bucket early, an' all these toyz are her inheritence...So, she sez Keep Buyin'..but buy quality...I got Lauriann-the wife- & Bethany-the little "girlfriend", in the Ship's Radio Room awhile back, & told 'em what all that stuff was worth, & how Rich they were gonna be when I Shuffled Off This Mortal Coil. I could see the wheels turnin' in Bethany's head when I said this R-390A should bring $1500, the R-389 should fetch $2500 or so, the EK-07, another $1500-2K or so, Bethany's eyes kept gettin' bigger & bigger, Lauriann says, "Whoa, kid, I gotta go TOO before YOU get any of this..." Bethany looked at her like, well, THAT could be arrainged...I told 'em the REAL moolah was in the Gun Safe, though. Hehehehe...

My thoughts, too. Must have scared the "Big Dogs" away- Like I said, these puppies usually go higher. I kinda can't believe I got it. Seller called me last nite-it isn't his, he's selling it for a friend, he knew nothin' about it other than it was dirty. Told him PLEASE don't plug it in & try it out, he said he had no intentions of it. Seemed like a nice guy. Seemed kinda interested when I told him what it was-Sony's 1st TV & all.

Hey, that's a good project! You don't want them to be mint right out of the box...what fun is that? This will clean up nice. Still kicking myself...I spotted one of these at a hamfest about 5 years ago, judging by the way they had it stacked along with a bunch of junk I just know I could have got it for nothin'. I didn't even ask. Stupid!

Dawn dish soap is good for cleaning smoke off of delicate things as well. I have had good results with it. I also use those microfiber cloths that WILL NOT scratch anything.
Good luck with 'er Sandy!

Ah! Nice find! Hopefully you get lucky and its a simple fix. Looks like its untouched and hasn't been used in many years which is a good thing!

Clean-up should be okay. I actually have fun doing it when the results are good enough...

There was one of these listed on eBay a while back, seller said it didn't work.

They had a picture of the back showing a waffle iron cord plugged into it, yes folks, 120 volts AC directly to the set, I think it runs on 12 volts DC!

That's correct; but, please don't throw it in a dumpster. That could hurt the environment. Just send it to me for proper recycling, LOL!
