Riff Trax and Cinematic Titanic

Anybody tried these post-Mystery Science Fiction Theatre 3000 movie sites.

I've been aware of Riff Trax for a few years, but Cinematic Titanic is pretty new.

I made the plunge last night and tried Mike Nelson's Riff Trax http://www.rifftrax.com/.

I downloaded their player and the trax for Raiders of the Lost Ark and my daughter and I watched a MST3K'd version of Ark and laughted our butts off.

You use your own DVD, their player seems to run on top of Windows media player and syncs their Riff's with your copy of the movie. I was MST3K-ish, only instead of movies like Red Zone Cuba and and The Girl in the Golden Boot's, it was Indiana Jones.

Plus downloded a VOD (no need to own the DVD) of the short Buying Food. Total cost $4.98.

Joel Hodgson's Cinematic Titanic http://www.cinematictitanic.com/ looks very promising.

I have several of the Cinematic Titanics and they're a lot of fun, not as much as MST3K but still quite enjoyable in their own way.

I did the Riff Traxs once only I burned it to CD, it was a little tricky to sync it up but once done it was fine.

So how did you do it? were you playing the DVD on the PC and running Media Player at the same time?

Nope, they have a RiffTrax DVD player that you download. It runs ( I believe) on top of Media player. When you download from Riff Trax, select ".riff". Put the DVD in your computer drive and shut down any player that opens.

Use the RiffTrax Player and open the .riff file, it then opens your DVD drive and syncs everything. You can pause, skip, whatever just like a regular player and it stays in sync.

The using the second player thing is what kept me from trying it. This is real easy (easier than it sounds).
