Sanyo tuner problem?
I have a Sanyo 27 in. that won't work on TV (acts like it isn't getting any signal at all) but will play DVD's all day long. A cable TV guy said the tuner was bad. Is it difficult to resolder or replace tuners?
How many leads would have to be resoldered or desoldered to remove one? Do I have to take the metal cover off the tuner or what? Thanks for any info I can get. |

Before you blame the tuner, there is a resistor (39K ohm, IIRC) that will open and kill the 33 volt supply to the tuner. If the voltage to the tuner is OK; it probably is the tuner. Try www.matelectronics.com. They have many tuners at reasonable prices and may have what you need.

Thanks radiotvnut, I'll check and see if its that resistor. I'm using it now with a cable box as the tuner and using audio and video outs from it but I'd like to be able to do away with the cable box.
