I went to a flea market a while back...

...and took some pictures. This was the most interesting set at the place:



You should know that many of the booths were running big CRT sets all-day-long with multiple extension cords plugged into each other, often under piles of old clothes and paper junk. I lifted one of the piles to reveal power strips plugged into power strips and told my girlfriend to keep a fire exit within sight!

However, I did pick up a Chrysler AM/CB radio circa 1977 for $5.

I don't know about you, but I suppose I enjoy vintage buildings along with cars, TVs, etc. so I had to take this picture of what was likely the original lunch counter at this old Detroit supermarket. It's been a flea market since at least the late 80s, but the lunch counter somehow managed to survive in very good condition, turquoise enamel panels and all. I'm thinking it was a local chain called "Chatham's" that went belly-up in the mid 80s. I'm sure the ceiling had tiles back in it's heyday...

That Panasonic TV/VCR does look nice!!

Seriously, what kind of TV is that? (the 80s woodgrain one) Looks like an RCA...

Hopefully none of those extension cords overheated.......

I'm 99.99% sure that woodgrain one is a GE that uses the PC chassis. I think that was the last true GE chassis before they got out of the consumer electronics business.

Pretty sad, though, when you think about it...ALL the TVs that have been made down the years, & those 2 are all that we have to show for it...

The tv was definately a GE, one of their "performance" televisions I think.

As to the overheated cords... If this place hasn't burned down in the last twenty years, it must have some patron saint of electricity watching over it!

lots of old indoor flea markets tend to have some fire hazards. There was one in NJ here which was standing for 30 years and burnt to the ground due to faultly wiring in a hamburger joint .

That one on the left is a GE. Someone gave us a new one with that cabinet in 1985. Ours wasn't a Performance set that I remember. I'm guessing it was a PF chassis judging by its model number of 19PF6730.

Is that four knobbed thing under the table lamp a 60s Philips/Norelco tape recorder?

I ought to take some pictures at my favorite local flea market. The good stuff is all outside, with the semi-permanent vendors under a canopy. One end is pretty much all electronics and other electrical stuff. Those booths are a real dump-one has tv sets piled up every which way on the ground, some with no backs, covered in a blue tarp when the seller is off. Depressing. Good stuff does show up sometimes, though. I've picked up several decent finds over the last year. The horizontal chassis Zenith that vintagecollect has came from one of those vendors.
