Ice Road Truckers: Season 2 starts tonight
Season 2 airs at 8 central on the History channel. If I understood the previews, the truckers are 1000 miles farther north, and driving on frozen ocean instead of lakes. Should be a fun.

Way more drama then the real world of truckers.

They drive on the Mckenzie River north to the Arctic Ocean and drive over the frozen open sea for a short distance. The speeds are much higher than last season becasue there aren't any portages. There was the usual gang of ill prepared drivers. I do like the show and A&E showed last season all afternoon.

I saw some of this on the History channel last night. It showed the money they make, something like $32,000 for the season, seems hardly worth the risk.
Under proper conditions it might be OK, I recall where I grew up along the Richelieu river we used to drive cars over the river in winter where the cable ferry ran in summer, but not in spring as the thaw started.

Maybe I should have watched more than one show all the way through (and more closely) but the impression I came away with, unfair or not, was this -
"OK, here is where I overreact and get really pissed-off bordering on homicidal." "OK, here is where I laugh too loudly & long at something not all that funny to begin with." "OK, here is where I complain about everyone out to get me and how unfair life is then have a nutty." Did I miss the boat entirely on this show? |

I've known a few over the years and they were all pretty laid back & calm, i.e totally normal.
(Which is probably why I didn't like this show.) |

I guess only actual participants can appreciate those shows. Me , I see no point watching crabs being cought or driving on ice. But to each his own. I mean where's the interest in seeing thousands of crabs being dumped out of baskets over and over and over and over........................................?

My father is a trucker, and has been since 1979....he's one of the most laid back and calmest people I ahve ever met.......he almost never gets riled....amazes me sometimes.....
