Zenith System 3 trouble...any suggestions?

I brought home a Zenith System 3 combo as part of the huge stash of t.v.s and radios I got from my landlord. It has a problem. When I powered the t.v. up, the raster didn't cover the top and right side of the screen. It also started to make a popping noise as if something was arcing, so I immediately shut it down. This is a nice set. Model #SL2597P, chassis #3WR12X, manufactured in August 1979. It has all manuals and paperwork as well as the original hang tags. I have one other issue with it, I need a Space Command 2000 remote w/zoom. Does anyone know where I might find one? All components besides the t.v. work fine. I'd appreciate any info from anyone familiar with these. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like it might need a HV Tripler?
I'm not sure if that model uses one but someone will know for sure.

Does the set use a 9-160 series power supply / HV module? I've seen the flyback arc on these modules and make a very loud snapping sound. If the flyback is arcing, you should be able to see it. Your best option for repair would be a new or rebuilt 9-160 module. I have also used the flyback off of a junk module.

Your width / height problem could be caused by a power supply fault. Check that two section electrolytic cap in the power supply. Also, those modules were notorious for having bad solder connections, especially around heavy components.

And, I remember one 9-160 with a shorted HOT and numerous other bad parts. I replaced all parts only to discover the flyback was arcing. I'm sure the arcing flyback took out those other parts. If your flyback is arcing, it could have very well smoked some other parts on the board. Those System 3's do not use a seperate tripler. The flyback and tripler are all built in a single unit.
