GE 803 shaping up
I've been recapping this set over the last few weeks and it's finally starting to come together.
It had problems right up to till the last electrolytic was replaced, well actually it still has some problems but at least it makes a coherent picture now, I still haven't replaced all the paper caps yet, mostly in the sound section and the radio. Probably going to have to find a dial stringing diagram also to repair the broken string, looks complicated! The set |

Looking good!
I understand that this GE model was relatively low-production, thus a very rare find. |

I've only seen an 803 in the wild once, at an Antique Mall, sporting a $400 price tag. Needless to say I passed.

Thankfully I paid nowhere near that much for this one, I got it in a lot of several sets for not much $$.
![]() Retrotronics sells repro backs for them so I snagged one. I know of a local who has two 803's sitting in his shed. |
