Sony KV-27510 Won't Power Up
I just got this set today.A Sony KV-27510 made in March 1994. it had been stored in a garage for over a year. It
worked fine when it was stored, but upon bringing it home I can't get it to come on. Any suggestions on where to start? I'm mainly a tube t.v. guy with very little experience with solid state sets, but this is too nice a set to just toss, so I want to give repairing it a try. Check for a shorted horizontal output transistor. Also check the two transistors mounted on heat sinks in the power supply for shorts. If they are shorted, there will be a small round white resistor less than 1 ohm that will be open. Also, resolder the connections on the horizontal drive transformer. The loose connections are what takes out the HOT and in turn blows up the power supply transistors.
