Snade's Cousin on the "History Channel" tonight

My cousin - Keith Gallagher is featured on a show called "Shockwave" on the History Channel tonight at 9pm eastern time (Friday, Feb 1).

History Channel Schedule with Shockwave episode description

Keith was involved in a life threatening incident while serving in the Navy as the navigator on an A-6 aircraft on the Abraham Lincoln carrier in 1991.

LT. Gallagher experienced a "partial ejection" from the aircraft, was thrown into the air-blast above the aircraft, and the pilot landed the plane with Keith sitting on top of the aircraft.

Keith is fine now, is married with two kids and lives in Atlanta.

I'm sure the show will discuss the many technical facts, skill of the pilot and some amazing luck that allowed him to survive this incident.

I work on web sites and here is a site I created several years ago to help tell Keith's story. The site still gets a lot of hits.

Web Site with Background on this Story and Video of Landing

Cheers, Snade

Very interesting! I think that my cousin used to fly these on the USS Theodore Roosevelt.

Interesting. I'm watching, IIR.

There was another show (on HC I think) about a Navy guy who got sucked into the air intake of a jet engine on board a carrier.

Survived, too.

Think I'll pass on either experience.

I used to maintain EA-6B's they are essentially the same airframe and use the same kind of ejection seats, there are so many inspections required now to prevent that sort of thing from happening again. It is amazing that he survived. I hope his seat mech's bought him a beer after it was all said and done. This story is still told by some of the saltier chiefs that were there.
