Does anyone know where I can get a tuner dial light bulb - it is for my ctc-44A chassis RCA trans vista color tv from 1970. I can't find anyone anywhere - I substituted the UHF bulb for the VHF for now (just blew out), but would like all operational. Any leads would be appreciated. No schematic is to be found anywhere, and i don't have the model number either - the tag is long gone unfortunately. Again, thanks to all of you who helped me get it up and going again! Joe

Is there a number on the base of the bulb? If so, you might could get one from Radio Shack or Antique Electronic Supply (www.tubesandmore.com).

It's probably 6.3v, but you should check. As radiotvnut said, there should be a number on it. These are standard lamp types that are still available today.

It's not one of the bi-pin lamps, it it? RCA used some of these - if it is a bi-pin lamp, I've got some. There are two types - both have a black metal cylinder around the bulb - one type has the cylinder open at the end, the other with a closed end and a rectangular window in the side.
Cheers,

Get the number off the original lamp and we'll see if we can help you, I have many bayonet base lamps if that's what it takes, Dave.

If it calls for a 47 then use a 755, 7x the lifespan. Dave.

The 47 is still a common lamp. I think even (the formerly beloved, now hated) Radio Shack has them, maybe in the catalogue if not in the stores.

So 40 years x 7= 280 years!, that should be sufficent.

Your set uses a #219 bulb. RCA p/n 117435. Its a 6.3v 250 mA bayonet base with a spherical envelope. Very important to use the correct bulb, especially in an RCA. The #47 will be too close to the dial drum and will create a burn mark on the channel strip.
You should replace the other bulb too. Im surprised it worked when you swapped it out. Every time I pull a tuner with its original working dial lamps and then reinstall, 9 times out of 10 the VHF bulb won't light! Here's a place online who has them in stock: http://www.electra-ica.com/special/microlamp/
