philco 48-700 question

does anyone here have one of these sets? philco 48-700,1948..I am just trying to find out of the front trim and mask area is suppose to be painted a brown to match the mahogony finished cabinet..?the original finish had pretty much peeled off,and i could not tell,it seems the front trim is a much harder wood.. like walnut?..
thanks

I have two of them and they both have mahogany cabinets and dark brown painted fronts.

Chuck or anyone else that help.

Am hoping someone can post a couple close up pics: of the 48-700 cabinet and front. I recently picked one up that had been stripped and lightly stained, so am starting the job again, and wanted to see a few close up pics.

Thanks to anyone that can help

Ross

Thanks. Bob. That helps! I was curious if the area around the mask was the same as the remainder of the cabinet, or if it was a darker tone. From what I have seen so far, it is one common dark mahogany throughout, or at lest from what I can see with my crappy eyesight!!

Here is a link to a completed auction, where the set had been refinished

The third pic does show a different color on the front area vs the remainder of the cabinet

If any of the owners of this set that still have a good original finish, can have a peek and compare the front area to the rest of the cabinet in terms of color and let me know if the pics from the auction are a good representation of how the set should look, that would be great!!

Thanks
