The best Funai VCR chassis ever made in terms of durability and reliability is the one made from 1985 to 1988. I personally have a 1985 Symphonic VCR, first Funai VCR ever made. Still works great, and it probably has outlasted over 10 million newer Funai VCRs by now. Such a rarity. The mechanical is not cheap cheap at all. It looks like to me that very very few people have seen the older Funai VCR chassis, so they have no idea about them.
