This thread brings to mind the Zenith ad campaign from the seventies (check most any National Geographic from that era). They surveyed TV repairmen and asked questions like which was most reliable, easiest to service, etc. Aside from the winner (always Zenith, of course) the others were unnamed. By looking at the chart you could guess that some guys, probably GE dealers, were answering GE, same with the Sears repairman saying Silvertone, & all the others.
From my experience the solid state Zeniths do very well, as do later seventies solid state RCA's. They were the market leaders for a reason.
