They stopped carrying electronics at the thrift stores around here a while back now, a combination of them not wanted to deal with disposing of all the dead stuff and some new OH&S crap that came in. Some stores in the "Savers" chain still have the occasional TV at $49, but nothing interesting enough to be worth that price.
I used to make a regular trips to all the stores in the area looking for audio, video and computer gear. While I was there I'd check out ther records, books and toys. I stopped going when they stopped carrying electronics.
