Those turntables like on those Zenith are a real pain to fix! We have had to retrofit older BSR units that are still repairable into consoles using these TT's. We haven't had to do one for a while but it seems as though it is impossible to disassemble it to work on it.
Is your Kaypro II working? I remember finding one in the trash too but could not get it to start up.
