There is nothing that beats watching over an Ampex ACR25 during a long spot break.
One of my first jobs in TV was loading 2" quad carts into two of them. I was sad to see them go but then again I don't really want to ever go through that again. Another piece I really liked was Ampex's slomo disk recorder I can't remember the model number but it was something in it's day. My favorite VTR's are the AVR1 and the VPR2b.
