I've seen a few faluty WEGA tubes with shadow mask problems (NOT been banged, just won't get purity). Also I have seen a shorted one in a 32" WEGA that would arc and shut the set off every now & then. But I haven't seen the poor emission like we did on the 26" 710AB22, or the 27" standard A68JMT50X. They did come up with an improved 26, which I installed MANY MANY of after the '94 earthquake. Those seemed to hold up much better than the old ones. I can't remember the number, but it was something like A67JHGxxx. Dunbar ordered 3500 of them in February, '94, and sold every one of them by summer @ $150 ea! Slightly off topic; I think about 98% of those CRT replacements were fraud. People were dragging TV sets out of closets and even off the street and declaring earthquake damage and getting FEMA and private insurance payouts. We had people calling the shop all day long asking to buy smashed TVs "for insurance purposes". Shame what people do. I wonder if that went on in New Orleans?
