Great find! Should be a simple fix. The chassis looks alot like my CTC-54. The tuner shaft is ready for remote but I wonder if the set is ready for a remote chassis. Maybe there was a box to plug in externally for remote like that Admiral color adapter set-up. Just kidding. I suspect a two function remote system would fit in there somewhere. I bet the set will get a great picture.
