Tim,

Try some silicone dielectric grease. You might be able to find some at work, it usually comes in a little plastic packet with aftermarket spark plug wires. Clean and dry the ultor connector and surrounding area on the CRT bell and also clean and dry the cable connector. Smoosh some of this dielectric grease on the CRT surface for an area the size of a hockey puck (that's a Canadian measurement scale) and also on the old boot. Remove applicating finger before applying power.
