Most closed caption decoders or closed caption capable sets I have seen have 4 modes: Caption 1 and 2 and Text 1 and 2...most c.c. capable sets can display the text but I have never seen any actual text on them either.
I have been trying to use Telecaption caption decoders to get closed captions on old TV sets but these units must have a lot of bad caps or something as I cannot get good caption performance from any of them. I have 2 manually tuned ones and 1 digital tuned.
