I've had one of these since new (I use it to align satellite dishes).
I've had people come up to me and say "I've got one of these, and mine won't turn on". I Change the power switch transistor and away they go.
Was this one of the last consumer sets Sony built in Japan? AFAIK, the 8" set that succeeded it was made in San Diego.
