That said it all for me. I am a total sci-fi/fantasy nut (just saw the latest Harry Potter:
), so I am pretty discerning when it comes to my futuristic/sci-fi big-brother movies. The cartoon was superb and any movie has a lot to live up to. This isn't a Spider-Man, good guy vs. bad guy plot. The cartoon was very adult and complicated. The fact that no screenings were allowed was the nail in the coffin for me.
Other movies that did not allow pre-screening for fear of critics:
-Catwoman
-The Village (M. Night Shyamalan's worst rated movie - like a Twilight Zone stretched to 4X its proper running time)
-Alien vs. Predator
-Exorcist: The Beginning
-Kung Pow (Gawd was this one awful!)
I think I'll wait until it hits HBO.
Actually, the cartoon was just released on DVD!!
On the same note, if there are any SPAWN fans, I highly recommend the cartoon issued on DVD. It came out before the live action movies and is MUCH more enjoyable.
