It is not an AC/DC set. The voltage doubler power supply won't double on DC.
It is a historic set,the first one on the market for less than $200 [as claimed by Motorola]
The set is a marvel,tho. The engineering is superb,especially working as well as they do with a minimum of components. They made a lot of them and a good profit on each one.
