Then in 1965, something interesting happened: after an illegal swap between NBC and Westinghouse (aka Group W), NBC acquired KYW in Cleveland and Westinghouse took back to Philadelphia's NBC, bringing the KYW calls back. The Cleveland station became WKYC.
Somewhere along the way, the original WPTZ calls set sail for Plattsburgh, NY's NBC affiliate, where they sort of live today - the station hopped Lake Champlain a few years ago, but it's still the same market.
