Moto sold their entire consumer electronics division to Matsushita in the mid 70s...It wasn't 'made by Motorola' it was assembled in the US by an assembly plant owned and operated by Matsushita's north American division to skirt import terifs on foreign built electronics. There's still companies that assemble flat screen TVs in the US for the same reason.... They're all Asian parts and no different from a set made off shore only they traded paying terrifs for paying labor on domestic assembly of it.
