When I was a kid, I had a more conventional version of this TV, although I seem to recall mine had a tube rectifier...
It also might have been a 12" and not a 9"..
Anyway, it had as I recall
four video IFs, and was a spectacular performer. I also seem to recall it was all germanium
. That was a long time ago...
Originally I used it on our family's antenna and later on cable (no box), and it was a joy to watch, even in B&W.
It's life ended when my brother tripped on the AC cord or cable TV connection and the little 9" hit the floor and shattered. It still ran and I used it for a little while with the picture tube hanging out but I picked up a 17" (rare) Zenith Chromacolor Solid State TV that was a theft recovery - and it also had a broken cabinet. Since the Zenith was only a year or so old, I was able to order a new front and back cabinet from our Zenith distributor.

Edit: it looked like this only it was black. The TV in this picture is a 12". I don't know if mine was a 9" or a 12".."
